Join SAE Detroit Section and the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) for a guided visit to the Selfridge Military Air Museum, featuring indoor exhibits, the new Aviation Education Center, and an outdoor Air Park with full-scale aircraft from multiple branches of the U.S. military. This experience offers a rare opportunity to explore aviation history and engineering up close.
Selfridge is one of the nation’s oldest continuously operating military airfields. For more than a century, it has played a central role in aviation innovation, illustrating the evolution of military, aerospace, and systems engineering from World War I to today, from early propeller-driven aircraft to jet-powered, high‑speed, and systems‑integrated aviation.
Inside the museum, exhibits highlight the history of Selfridge, the Michigan Air National Guard, and the people and technologies that shaped military aviation. Outside, the Air Park offers a walk‑through collection of full‑scale aircraft from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, giving visitors an up-close look at aircraft scale, configuration, and operational purpose.

IMPORTANT ACCESS INFORMATION:
The Selfridge Military Air Museum is a private organization and is not part of the Department of Defense or any of its components. However, the museum is located on an active military installation.
All visitors must complete a mandatory background check. A pre‑approved background check must be submitted via the provided link no later than seven days before the event (30 days for foreign nationals).
Important Note: Tour is limited to SAE members and their guests 10 years and older. Registration and refund deadline is Thursday, April 16 (or when sold out).
