IIHS Crash Test - Behind the Scenes
Wednesday, November 18

12:00 - 1:00 p.m. ET

(Complimentary virtual event)

This joint virtual event with the SAE Washington DC Section will take SAE members and their guests behind the scenes for a crash test at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Vehicle Research Center in Central Virginia.

IIHS is an independent, non-profit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing the losses - deaths, injuries, and property damage - from motor vehicle crashes. The Vehicle Research Center is the state-of-the-art facility where IIHS performs the crash tests that are the basis for its widely consulted vehicle ratings.

During this event, viewers will see how a vehicle is prepared for crash testing and experience the final countdown to impact, watch the crash in slow motion from different angles, and learn about the post-crash measurements and calculations used to translate the test results into a final rating. IIHS experts will be available to answer your questions.

Important Note: You must register in advance to receive a link. Registration is limited.
