Modeling and Simulation Tools for Autonomous Ground Systems Tech-Fast

7:30 - 9:30 a.m.

SAE International, Standards & Networking Room

755 W. Big Beaver Rd., Ste. 1600, Troy

Traditional military and commercial ground systems have a well-developed set of computer aided engineering (CAE) tools that are used to develop, assess, and test vehicles. As we field more autonomous systems, the community has yet to use or own a standard set of CAE tools to perform similar assessments, tests, and development of these systems. In fact, tools are required in a fourth area as well, training of the autonomous systems. This technical session will bring leaders in the field to discuss what is meant by autonomous ground systems, what tools exist to develop, assess, test, and train those systems. Finally, what the strengths and weaknesses are in these tools and where further development is needed.
