The museum closed its doors to the public in January 2013, but will open for SAE members and their guests. Rising three stories on Chrysler's Auburn Hills campus, the 55,000 square foot museum houses more than 65 production and concept vehicles showcasing the corporation's American heritage. Cars are interspersed with interactive displays and exhibits illustrating the automaker's impact on American culture and the industry. The museum features:

• The first floor traces the industry’s first 50 years. Rare vehicles date back to the early 1900s and a timeline wall details the key executives and predecessor companies that shaped today’s Chrysler Group LLC. The vintage collection includes such historic marques as DeSoto, Hudson, Nash, Plymouth, Rambler and Willys-Overland.
• The second floor continues Chrysler’s story, beginning with the introduction of the first HEMI_® in 1951 and spotlighting the automakers design, engineering and marketing successes. Exhibitions illustrate decades of styling brilliance, the electronic age of transistors, Mopar® Muscle, turbine technology, the family transportation revolution and leadership in safety and fuel economy.
• The lower level, called “Boss Chrysler’s Garage,” houses dream machines from the ‘50s – ‘70s, including classic and muscle cars from the heyday of cruising to one-of-a-kind record setting race vehicles. Rounding out the Garage’s eclectic collection is a number of trucks and Jeep_® vehicles and its newest addition, the Viper Café Exhibit and Visitor’s Lounge, made possible by the generous donations from the Viper Club of America.
• Classic advertising and photo displays and newsreel-style video kiosks highlighting important historic and social events since the 1920s.
• Life-size vignettes capturing historic moments in Walter Chrysler – and the company’s – life.
• Three continuously running short movies spotlighting Walter Chrysler’s life and times, muscle cars of the ‘50s and ‘60s, and a look inside the Chrysler Technology Center.

This is a self-guided tour and pre-registration is required. The fee is $20 for SAE members and their guests.
