The Benefits of SAE Membership in the Workplace...

We asked our 2007 SAE Detroit Section Chariman, Kevin Webber, to share his thoughts on why his SAE membership is valuable to him.

SAE is the Original Auto Industry Connection Forum.

Every day, we are reminded about the popularity of online sites like Facebook or LinkedIn. There’s no doubt that such electronic forums are great tools for staying in touch with friends and colleagues, past and present.

But, long before any of these virtual forums existed, professional organizations, like SAE provided a platform for connectivity of automotive engineers all over the world. This has been, and remains, the most important benefit of my SAE membership. SAE has been keen to keep up with the times, providing online forums, virtual meetings, and so on. But, there’s no substitute for the benefit that comes from personal meetings and conversations with an industry colleague at an SAE event. Whether it is a technical committee or dinner meeting, Formula event or Congress – SAE remains the forum to connect with fellow mobility engineers!
